Compensation Potential

The total origination fee is capped by HUD at the greater of 2% of the Maximum Claim Amount (defined as the lesser of the appraised value of the property or the FHA maximum loan amount in the country where the property is located) or $2,000.

Example — For a home valued at $362,790, the 2% origination fee is $7,255. In this case, the broker would earn a $1,814 commission, which is 25% of the origination fee. Just think of your earning potential, if you closed 5 - 10 deals a month!
